On July 13, Cross Church celebrated our three month birthday.  It’s been an exciting three months as we have enjoyed our first Easter Sunday in April, our first Backyard Kids Club in June, as well as our first Children’s Camp, Middle School Camp and first New Members Class (with 19 in attendance!).

As August nears, I was struck by how many more “firsts” we will have including our first baptism, our first Lord’s Supper and our first family dedication.  August 2014 at Cross Church will really be a month of firsts.

At Harwood Terrace and at NRHBC, I was involved in baptisms, Lord’s Suppers, family dedications as well as camps, Easters and VBS.  None of these were firsts for Harwood Terrace or NRHBC.  They were more likely to be somewhere in the thousands of baptisms, Lords Suppers or babies dedicated.

One of the most exciting aspects of planting a campus is the sheer number of firsts that we get to experience.  We have the joy of participating in the start of something new in an area that has had very few churches.  So not only is this the firsts for Cross Church, it is among the firsts for these new communities.

Cross Church does not yet have a fancy building. We don’t yet have fancy chairs or comfy…pews… But what we do have are firsts.

Join with us.  Experience the firsts of an exciting new endeavor.  You can be a part of the firsts and help us to reach the hundredth and thousandth with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Enjoy the same blessing that Paul wrote about in Romans 15:20, “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.”
